Delta – I have flown with you a great deal in the last five years. I was never a net promoter for you, but I was neutral. I was a net neutral customer.

I got where I was going, but you never wowed me. In fact, you have slowly taken all the joy out of flying with you. Here are my thoughts.

When I arrive at the airport in ATL to catch a flight to LAX, it has invariably come in at a different gate. A gate far, far away.

You allow people to bring HUGE and multiple bags on board for carry ons, and it means if I board in Zone 3 or later (I’ll complain about losing my medallion status in a minute), I have to check my bag.

You have us jammed in coach like anchovies in a tin. Your human carry area was designed for people in the 50s, average height of 5′ tall.

My seat, tray table, and floor are generally dirty. Like, nasty. Thanks for that especially, since I have to sit there for 5 hours.

My flight crew is grumpy as hell about 35% of the time. That’s too much.

My chair won’t lean back about 6% of my flights.

I have sat in the middle of the middle on my last 6 flights.

I lost my medallion status because I took a travel hiatus, and you *poof* took away my award. The year rolled over, and them I’m not special anymore.

In summary – invest a little in creating a different experience. I think you can be saved. I like you. You just aren’t moving forward at the pace your competitors are. And you know what that means, right?

I wish you the best, Delta. Let me know how we can be friends again. And I’ll check out some other airlines and let you know if they are really that much better.
